Project Manager: Climate Change Communication Programme
Brasilia/DF - The British Embassy invites applications for the above full-time position.
Responsibilities to include:
- Delivering public awareness-raising projects on climate change;
- Identifying and building relationships with programme stakeholders and project implementers;
- Monitoring the Brazilian press, producing press releases and summaries;
- Building and maintaining contacts with press officers and journalists;
- Overseeing maintenance of the climate change and energy-related intranet and internet sites;
- Taking the lead on press and public diplomacy work for climate change and energy related visits.
Essential requirements:
- A university degree, preferably in Journalism.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience with managing communication projects in Brazil.
- A strong network with the media.
- A strong team player.
- An understanding of climate change and related issues would be a bonus.
- Other requirements are excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English and Portuguese; computer literacy in Microsoft office packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and willingness to travel within Brazil and occasionally abroad.
Start date: September 2008. The contract will be initially for one year.
